: Upper Control Arm Shaft - Misc....
feedphillipnow Oct 1st, 04, 5:10 PM Ive fixed everything on the checklist the alignment shop gave me. The only thing im not sure on is this:
* Upper Control Arm Shaft , bushings, bolts, and washers
This is that little peice between the upper arm, where the shims for alignment go correct? I installed brand new bushings on there 6 months ago, and they hadnt even taken off the hood, they said these needed replacing, maybe its lose?
Thanks.... What do you think?
MAXX2 Oct 1st, 04, 5:35 PM If any of these 30+ year parts haven't been replaced (Upper Control Arm Shaft , bushings, bolts, and washers), then most likely one or more do need replacing (?????).
Hope this helps.

feedphillipnow Oct 1st, 04, 5:49 PM Oh yeah of course! Im not making sure this is the part im thinking of. If it is I already replaced them 6 months ago. Im not sure why they'd list them, maybe they looked lose, but there new.
feedphillipnow Oct 1st, 04, 5:50 PM Im making sure, I had a typo...
Xtreme70SS396 Oct 1st, 04, 6:27 PM Sounds like they gave you a general statement based on what they think, without looking over your car. On a 30 year old car they should expect them to be replaced - my guess is they didn't look at them or ask you about them, just added them to the list out of habit.
feedphillipnow Oct 1st, 04, 6:31 PM Now thats what I wanted to hear graemlins/beers.gif Just making sure, Ill double check everything before I bring it back in. I wish they were open weekends :(
71350SS Oct 1st, 04, 10:48 PM You said they had some issues with your hood right? If they never opened the hood theres no way they could have properly inspected the upper control arm bushings. If you replaced them already just make sure that there is no looseness. There's no need to replace anything thats not needed.
sinned Oct 2nd, 04, 12:46 AM You can check the UCA bushings from under the car, I do it all the time.
Phil, I'm sure they just went down their mental list of what a 30+ year old car "should" need to get a proper alignment.
Bob West Oct 2nd, 04, 9:05 AM or....could it possibly need the dreaded off-set shaft used for frame sag??????
sinned Oct 2nd, 04, 11:27 AM They wouldn't know if that was the case as they got the heads mounted up to record readings if I am understanding correctly.
