I have a 70 Monte, 454 w/T56 6 speed & 12 bolt posi w/4.10 gears. Considering trying the no-hop bars, not ladder bars (already used them and too rough of a ride) but the ones that attach to the upper control arm and rear end. Does anyone have any experience with these? I have already installed new poly bushings.
Thanks,
Tom

The No-hop bars have worked good for me, but when you install them you will need to remove the big poly bushings in the top of the rear casting. The No-hop bars mount to this opening and uses no bushing (solid mount). They make for tight clearance for your tailpipes. You car sounds like the ultimate cruise machine, Monte, 454, 6-speed, and 12 bolt 4.10.....wish I had it.

The no hop bars may hinder your handling, you may want to try Morrison adjustable opper control arm kit to reduce the tight instant center of the No Hop. No Hop is a good straight line traction aid.

i installed coil spring traction bars as found in jegs. the set i have are adjustible, they are easier to install, work well for every day driving and cured the wheel hop problem my bb chevelle was having. the only set back is seeing them people want to know how i got slapper bars on a coil spring rear end.

I have nopt used the no hop bars, but I put a set of SSM lift bars on my 69. They worked great for traction with slicks, they were not much help with street tires, though the car did not wheel hop before. The other big advantage to them is they dramatically improved the handeling of the car. They eleiminate the rubber bushings in the lower contol arms. Actually the lift bar it self is a replacement for the lower controll arms. SSM lift bars- Good stuff, I highly recomend them.

I have no hop bars on my 69 SS and they did not stop my car from wheelhopping. 50/50 shocks did. The other pain in using no-hops is that they interfere with the plug in the case, make it hard to remove/install and add to the joy of adding fluid when the time comes to change the gear lube. I have an old Moroso chrome cover (sucks) on my car that has a fill plug on the cover itself to ease the oil change chore(cool!).

What are the 50/50 shocks you are referring to? Had you installed new bushings with the no-hop bars?
Thanks.

I use No-hop bars on my 69 and they definitely stopped all wheel hop. I can't see how they could possibly detract from the handling of the car. It handles as well as ever.
