My 68 has that light greenish color paint and in many areas the clear coat is peeling and it has chips and so forth. I was wondering what i can do in this situation.
Is it possible for me to take off the paint without taking it to a blasting? Can i sand it off? etc.
Thanks!

Got a DA?
That's what I would use.

You can sand it off with a DA or you can chemical strip. Chemical strip can be messy and you want to keep it out of the seams and make sure to clean it off / rinse well.

DA or an airsander (I have a 7 inch that works well but I ended up at the blaster anyway) and some object but I had better luck with 36 grit first and then on to 60. 60 to rip through the paint was taking too long and generating more heat than needed.

If you search for paint stripping in this forum you will get a ton of hits. Lots of reading.

But bottom line is yes you can.

I ordered these from Eastwood and they work awsome.

Dual Action sander. has a shimmy and a twist...as opposed to the rotary which just has the twist.

We all like a shimmy AND a twist.

:D

Also a District Attorney but really sucks when you try and use their faces to remove paint. Lots of trouble, big mess....and bail aint cheap ;)

DA's come in air and electric.

Search for DA sander or the paint removal and you will find lots of info on DA's in those threads as well.

Also

http://www.autobody101.com is helpful.

Howards backyard autobody CD set is excellent as well.

And of course - right where you are at.

What i did was sanded the gloss off then i used aircraft stripper it works really well. but if you use aircraft stripper you have to put a think layer on.
You can get it at like checkers or auto zone or maybe wal-mart
