Im replaceing all suspension parts ( bushings, shocks, and springs ) on my 1970 chevelle.it had a small block in it now a big block !the question is :i picked up new moog front springs#5450.and rear springs#cc501. thats what it seems like alot of people are running ! i searched out alot of old posts! the old springs came out of a 1972 chevelle with air . side by side the new bb springs are 2.50in. shorter than the sb springs! i thought that the bb springs would be taller !! any one observe this when replaceing springs ! i hate to put it together only to have the sales person say , ooops! they must of been boxed wrong ! please help !!!

Shorter,,,but is the wire diameter larger? BB/AC springs show a free height of 15" installed 11", 6330's that I'm putting in have a free height of 17" installed 11.25"...I guess its hard to really tell, you have to hope the right springs are in the right box.

I just redid my front end on my '70. I still have not dropped it on its wheels yet but I also noticed that my replacement springs were shorter but stouter than the ones on the car. Granted mine is an original big block car but it appeared that in a prior life the car was set up for drag racing with drag shocks, lighter springs etc. I can tell you that with the lighter springs the car sat pretty darn low in the front. I am sure it will sit and ride better with the new springs. Not a direct comparison to your situation but I hope it helps. Skip

I just swapped-out my Moroso SBC front springs for
some BBC springs. The SBC are taller but not as stout. Also, the BBC springs were easier to install.
