Hi, anyone have experience with these ceramic pads? How are the performance on these? I am thinking of getting these for my 1LE conversion on my 66.

Thanks!

AC delco dura stop products,from what I can gather are all made by Raybestos.Its a marketing ploy by GM to be competitive in the aftermarket.Not to say their stuf aint up to snuff.When you look up part #s on the dealers computor you get the Goodwrench #s and the Delco #s. We always use the goodwrench stuff. Those Ceramic pads are quality stuff,They seem to take more abuse and last longer than OEM spec pads,but with a little more noise and ya gotta get them warmed up for optimum perf. The noise issue is the thing folks bitch about,who cares if their pads only last 10k miles.Go figure??

GM makes OEM SM brake pads, Durastop SM in 2 flavors, and Durastop Ceramic pads for my vette. The OEM pads are MORE EXPENSIVE than the Durastop pads even though GM touts the DS pads as better. My C5 uses 171-781 front and 171-782 rear SM pads. the Durastop NON-ceramic pads are 17D731M or 17D731MHP front SM pads or 17D732M and 17D732MHP rear pads.
the M pads are less expensive than the4 MHP pads
what gives?????????!!!!!
Dont want ceramic cause they heat up the rotors and are not as good after heating up. what should i use for normal STREET DRIVING.
the OEM M or MHP

GM part numbers for Durastop SM pads:
17D731M = 18038570
17D732M - 18038571

17D731MHP = 18039366
17D732MHP - 18039366

MHP Pads slightly less expensive than the M pads

Whats the difference? Want stopping power not concerned with brake dust
avioded ceramic pads due to heat build up and decreased stopping power

Should i use OEM SM pads (more expensive than Durastop) or one of the above pads for normal street driving?
