Does anyone make extended bump stops for our rear ends (the ones at the spring perches?)
My 4" driveline is lightly kissing the floor if I go over a large bump at a decent speed (such as taking an intersection with a tall crown at about 45-50mph). It just taps the floor a bit. I'd like to put some slightly extended bump stops on spring perches of the rear axle to "help out" when the rear end sees a sudden, large upwards movement. The car takes large bumps under individual tires OK, but when both tires hit a large rise the driveline sometimes taps the floor. This becomes a larger problem when I have multiple people in the car or in the backseat.
I noticed that in this month's Hot Rod when they cover the silver/red year one Chevelle they built extended bump stops for exactly this reason. Is there something off the shelf I can use? If I have to, I'll weld up my own steel extender brackets for the stockers, but I'd prefer a larger rubber bump stop as the larger mass of rubber will have a nice "cushioning" effect.
