Anyone running a set of these shocks on 67 SS 396? Any opinion? Is the suspension on the SS considered HeavyDuty suspension? I had a rear shock somehow run the lower mounting bracket and the fluid leaked out ... I am trying to decide between KYB and Monroe. I am replacing all 4 while I am at it ... Thanks ... SDT

Cant really help on the question, but http://www.p-s-t.com has the best deal on KYB's for all 4 corners. Also, during October Kragen's/Schucks/Checkers is having "shocktoberfest" or something like that where you buy 3 monroe sensatracs and get the 4th one free.

I have the sensa-trac shocks on all four corners. It firmed up the ride a little but still cruises very comfortably. They seemed to eliminate a small amount of body roll the car had with the air shocks and the rear sway bar pretty much took care of the rest.

Rusted,
I put a set of Sensatracs on Sherri's 59 Chevrolet and I noticed that there are no rubber bushings on the upper shaft of the front ones. Are yours like that?

I am running the Sensa-Tracs on my 66, and haven't had any complaints... They've been on there for 7-8 years though... But they still work fine (only about 4500 miles in the last 8 years)... I even had the car extremely lowered (3-4+ inches), and still no adverse effects...
I used to run KYBs on my other Chevelle, but I sold that car a few years before I put on the Monroe's on this one, so I have no comparison... But I didn't have any problems with those either...
I used the Monroe's because I got a great deal on them (I used to work in a parts house that sold Monroe, etc)...

They came with two rubber bushings each. One above the shock mount and one below.
So, what's on top of her's...just a nut and washer?

Yes, just a washer & nut. The part of the shaft that's below the frame mount is what appears to be a cylindrical steel "bushing" about the same size as the conventional rubber one. It's permanently attached. Doesn't look like there's enough threaded shaft length to put regular rubbers on it.
