Hey guys
I'm new to painting. I've got a 68 Malibu that is currently green with white racing stripes, that I would like to paint shadow gray. Myself and a friend (who knows more than I do thank god) are going to sand and prime it, and then I'll take it to a local shop and have them finish it. Questions:
What kind of primer should I use?
What kind of paint should I buy for the "top coat?"
I'm not looking for a drop dead "oh my god is that Sean Connery's car?" kind of job. I just want to have a half-way decent coat of paint on my beloved car.
Thanks guys!

Since you are taking your ride to your local paint shop, ask the shop what you should use.

That would save you alot of problems...like they my not want to shoot the top coat that

you picked out.............it happens. :D

You should ask the shop what top coat to use. I know Im very picky on the brand of top coat. I wouldnt want to spray some crap someone brought me because usually, it is crap.

Yeah, that makes sense. Any decent brands of primer that you guys can reccomend? I was looking at some on Summit Racing...
