I'm planning on rebuilding the front end on my 68 chevelle this summer, i have almost 3 months to do it before i need to store my car
i've never done anything like this before except help a kid replace a tie rod(i think thats what it was) on his blazer.
how long should i plan on having it out of action?
any tips or kits or brands any one reccomends?

i dunno how much quality parts would be but i will have around $800 from graduation to spend on it, plus whatever i can manage to save some how.

thanks guys

I'd say about a week out of service.
Figure 200-300 bucks on bushings and tierods and stuff(200 being moog stuff buying piece by piece at pepboys about 300 for pst stuff)
100 for shocks
and 100 for front springs
Thats all I can think of right now. Its not all that bad of a job and isnt too bad on the wallet either til u get into disk brakes and stuff.(it would be a good time to add them if u want them though)
anyway, someone will chime in with more details I'm sure. But good luck with the project!!

give summit or jegs a call and get all your parts there before you start.800.00 bucks will be plenty enough money to do the job.make sure you've got all the tools you need to do the job right.and then give yourself 2 to3 days since you've never done this before.if you run into problems.give me a shout via e-mail and i'll guide you though it.

It depends on how much of your day you can devote to it. I did all my bushings and ball joints and tie rods, and switched to disc brakes starting in October and finished in early December, working on the car one night a week. I guess it was probably about 7 days total worth of work.
