Cragar S/S wheels have been using them since 1965 why do they have to make cheap china center caps with phillip screws that strip and break upon installation ? A top quality wheel with a solid reputation with the stamp "ROC" on the center cap.... DO A JOB AND FINISH IT RIGHT !!!!

Funny you should mention this, my Boss 338's are proudly stamped "MADE IN USA", then the 10 cent plastic snap in center cap says "made in Korea". Seems strange, but I won't have those caps on my car long anyway, going to make some custom ones. Jim.

It's non-critical to the performance and durability to the wheel itself, therfore it went to the lowest bidder. As long as the finish is decent, who cares how durable it is...
Besides, world politics considered, I would rather have my centercaps made in South Korea than anywhere in mainland China.

Dan, it is not about durability or appearance it is when they strip and break they are a ..... to take out. I have sold Cragars in the past and have used them on my track cars and own 3 Chevelles today all with s/s wheels on them.

My point is, as long as they pass the 'sniff test' they are OK'd by the manufacturer. I should have used my sarcasm smiley as I was just accentuating that Cragar seemed to think they would be saving money by having a ROC casting without sacrificing looks and durability. Reasonable wear, in the manufacturer's mind, might be removing the caps a handful of times without the screw stripping. Success!

Apparently, you are using these caps beyond their intended purpose and the manufacturer is not liable! :p /sarcasm

Metal used to make those caps must be weaker too...as the new set I bought last fall the little tip that keeps the cap from spinning I found broken off and rattling around inside...

I hear that the Chinese buy alot of our "hazardous" waste, like lead and mercury laden computer components...

What did you think they were going to do with that hazardous stuff? Give it to their own people? :D

They use it for the "export stuff", and probably keep the good stuff for their products...

I highly doubt that... the good stuff is being stockpiled in their red warehouses waiting for the rest of the world to use up their remaining natural resources. Then, EVERYONE will produce sub-par products now being at the mercy of the communist resource rationing.
