Using a dial indicater,, how much run out should the rear axles have,, 71 chevelle wagon 10 bolt, we measured at the hub, someone told me max 20 thounsants,, but I need to know for sure,, Thanx!!

I went through my 71 service manual and could not find a spec for rear axle flange runout :( However, front brake rotor runout limit was .003" and personally I would not want to see much more than that on a rear axle flange either.

Is the axle hub bent or is the bearing/housing end worn?

Beats me Bill ,, one is 10 and the other is 20 thousands that is,, Bill Neal said anything under 50 would not cause any vibration,, thats what Im fighting,,is a vibration,, the drums were egg shaped and I replaced those,, but still has alittle,, Im gunna take the wheels and tires off the 72 and put on the wagon next to see if its wheels and tires.
