I have a 1968 chevelle and i dont no how to take this trimming off. It's runs along the driver and passenger side of the window and its like 4inch up from the door handel.

When i paint my car do i take the trunk off or do i spray it when its up.

Sounds like what you are describing is what is called Window felt. It runs at the top edge where the window glass is at. To get it off the car you'll need to take the glass out or at the very least adjust the window down in the door to get to the window felt screws. I'm not sure if that will work though. I took all my glass out and then was able to get to the screws.

with door panels off, roll window all way down, at the front of the bottom of window there is a bracket with a rubber bushing on it, that needs to be loosened and moved down to get the extra 1/2 inch or so to get at the screws on the felts,.. my trunk lid stayed on when I had mine painted

I changed the felts on my 68 without have to adjust the glass down.
