Hey friends . . . just wanted to pop in and introduce ourselves. . . .I'm Lacey (Classic Lady Dreamer) & my teenage son ("BACS") and I are hoping . . . trying our best to step into the Classic Car Arena. And of course we're hoping it's going to be the '68 4-door Chevelle we've recently found. We've already posted here on the board trying to get some info about our 'purchase.' http://www.chevelles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=297299

Just a bit . . . we are a mother & son team (maybe I should call myself Lady Obvious) from Seattle, WA. We are both members of Stangnet.com. We thought our first classic would be a 60-something Mustang. We've spent a lot of the last few years learning about those Fords. Very recently my son found the Chevelle for sale and it stole his heart. Now we're in the process of trying to get it in all it's glory. I think it's a great car for his first.

Just to add: We finally got a chance to see and test drive her today. And again my kid fell head over heels for this classic beast!!! More wrong than advertised but we're leaning towards it . . . the deal is really good . . . It reminded me of my first big ol' car . . . a '73 Plymouth Fury!!!! cheers y'all . . . hope to have something to contribute . . . not just blood sweat & tears !!!!!

'68/4's can look quite agressive :)

The best thing about buying an old car to fix up, drive, put your hard earned money into, bust a few nuckles, and throw a few wrenches in discuss, is.....that you get to do it with the one you love and care for. Does not matter what year, model, or type.........hey it can even be a FORD.......LOL
Welcome to the best site on the planet to get information and help with any Chevelle ever built.......and have fun with the project.....keep us posted ...with pics....we love pics.........

Welcome Lacey, To you and your son.
You say that there are a "few" more things wrong than advertised... May I suggest that you post a description of the car in the "whats it worth" section with as many pix as you can. You will get many honest opinions on whether or not this is the right car for your skill level and if it is worth the price. If you do deside on this car. The info you will get will help you in the price negotiation to insure that you don't get taken.
Warning. The guys on here know there stuff. If you ask for an honest opinion, You will get it even if its not what you want to hear. Just remember. Team Chevelle is a family and the last thing anyone wants is for a family member to get taken advantage of...

I also noticed that your from Seattle. Check out the TCNW section. They are a great bunch with many right in your neighborhood...

This is good advise if you have not purchased the car yet, if this car does not work out a better one will come along if it beyond your scope of expertise. The first Chevelle I looked at was a 72 4 door and that one sold before I could get to it but a better one always comes along and I ended up with my 69 2 door.

On the other hand if you have purchased the car there is no better place to find anything you will encounter with your new project. I was also new to the hobby, bought the car when I was 18, now I am 20 and restoring that car over that first winter of ownership was a amazing experience

Welcome:thumbsup:
