There are 2 plastic corner pieces that screw onto a metal piece at the bottom corners of the rear window. I tried to put these pieces in their place with the rear window in, but I was having some serious issues. I think I purchased the correct corner pieces for my 68 SS396 from a Team Chevelle member, and my question is, do I need to take out the rear window to get these pieces in, or should they fit in with the rear window in place.

Thanks for the help

They should fit with the window in. What exactly is the "issue" with the fit? Top, bottom, side? How well does the metal strip in the middle fit?? Here's a pic of the corner pieces- http://www.ss396.com/mm5/graphics/00000009/IV-4585.jpg

When I try to place them into their spots, they get wedged between the rear window, and the package tray area. I have taken the package tray out, where there is just the metal area, and they still get wedged. I wonder if I don't have the wrong pieces. I don't have the car here it's at the body shop, otherwise I would post some pics. Thanks for the pictures you posted, I will have to compare mine when I get the car back.

It almost appears that they are too wide to fit.

Thanks

The picture that he posted was from Ground Up. I think they are found on P. 118 of the book, I looked last night. Don't quote me on the page number

GU carries them, part #IV-4585, $24.95. Other suppliers may also have them, it's easier to find GU's pics on the web.:)
It shows '68 to '72 using the same part.
HovSS (name??) could it be that the rear window is too deep like the seal strip is too thin?? Could it be that the rear window has slid down too far?
If the window is too deep in the opening, then you'll have a big gap between the glass and the reveal moldings.
Just some thoughts.;)
