Considering stock original manual steering gear boxes and stock original power steering gear boxes: do they use the same pitman arm?

Hey Rich,

This is what I discovered during my conversion. The manual pitman arm will not fit the power steering box. If you obtained a used power steering box with the pitman arm from a 68-72, the pitman arm will not fit your centerlink. The hole is too small. You have two options:

1 - Reem out the hole using a tapered reemer. They do make them. I used one at work. I believe they are called a "morris" reemer - not sure though.
2 - Purchase one from this place:

I purchased one after ruining mine using option one above. graemlins/clonk.gif

Thanks for the info guys. My situation is this: the wagon came with stock small block power steering. For the wagon's BBC future I want to build a quick ratio power steering set up. Since I have to replace the brackets, pump (with remote reservoir) and BBC style hoses anyway, I thought I'd sell the entire power steering set up. I have a spare manual steering box which I thought could be a source for a pitman arm since the rebuilt quick ratio boxes don't come with a pitman arm. So at least I know that won't work so I can either sell the PS set up without the pitman arm which seems dumb because if someone wants to convert from manual to power steering they'll need it or I'll have to buy one somewhere else.

At least I know what my options are. Thanks for the info.
