I've got a 1967 Chevelle convertible that I think needs major suspension help.
The way it sits now:
Front: All new rubber bushings and hardparts (Super Kit from PST) 1.125" sway bar, 2" dropped spindles, BB springs, disc brakes, Lee 12 to 1 box, 16x7 ralley wheels w/ TA's.
Rear: Full Hotchkis w/ adjustable uppers, 1" sway bar, station wagon springs, drum brakes, 16x8 ralley wheels w/ TA's.
The problem is two fold. First of all the handling sucks. It has terrible what I would describe as "bump steer". Second is that there is a load "whack" sound that comes from what sounds like the drivers side front suspension when you hit a bump a certain way. Once you hear the whack, the feel through the steering wheel changes a little. WTF?
I drive my car 15-20k per year and want it to handle. Smooth riding, nice handling, not race car handling.
Who out there has done anything to a 67' that they are totaly happy with? Are steel wheels to heavy to handle good? Would moving the battery to the rear help with the handling? right now the weight split is 2,025 front, 1,700 rear.
What would a conversion to tall spindles give me handling wise? Does this help or hurt with the bump steer?
Sorry for the milions of questions but...who better to ask then "Chevelle Guys".
Thanks in advance for all of your input.

If the front end isnt worn out, a correct alignment can make a big difference in the way a car drives. You can go from white knuckle terror to effortless driving with a good alignment. With the SW rear springs and BB springs up front is the car sitting too high all around? A SUV like high center of gravity wont help anything.

The front end has about 20k since it was rebuilt, so I think it's in good shape?? I had it aligned by a guy who really knows what he's doing; ie with the dropped spindles, lowering and all. The tires are wearing great. The car isn't high at all, in fact I would say it's one of the lower slung cars you will see. Not "slammed" just low.
