: Slicks vs. drag Radial? Which one?

I want to purchase an extra pair of rear tires for my 66 four speed Vortechpro 475 car with a Tom Lowe 3:73 12 bolt. Just want to do a few runs at the drags with my son for fun and to let him experience real torque and the heart pounding fun of being at the x-mas tree.

Should I buy drag radials or slicks? Are slicks harder on a drive train than drag radials? These tires won't be used on the street, just at the track a few times for fun....no bracket racing and no driving in the rain and I don't have a linelock.

Thanks
Tod

i would get some drag radials that could be used full time.
they do wear faster than regular tires i think???
not sure as i had regular radials on the car and the tread burnt off in under 400miles.....

slicks should hook harder in a stickshift car and are harder on the drivetrain than the dragradials :)

Slicks are more forgiving to hook with a stick car. If it doesn't plant the drag radial tire it will spin and not hook at all. A slick will slip a little but will recover.

If you are going to keep 2 sets and dont ever plan to run a street class , then get slicks.
A street legal drag radial is nice if you dont want to change them.
