I have a 1972 Chevelle Coupe with factory AC. There is a Vacuum Pod door assembly that mounts INSIDE the cowl vent area on the passenger side. (Pictured Below) I'm finding this impossible to install. Is there something I'm missing? Is there a trick to getting this in? There is no way this is going to be able to be installed in one piece. :noway: I can't figure out a good way to get the pin connected to the door when I have both pieces in the cowl area separately.

I had the same problem, tried puting it in from the top of the cowl and couldnt get it to go in. I had to slide it in from the kick panel vent hole inside. Took about 5 mins. put i didnt have that kick panel door in yet.

That's an idea, I can easily take out the kick panel vent and give it a try. Thanks for the idea. Even if it takes me a half hour, it's better than the frustration and @#$% I was doing the other day :D After over an hour I gave up went in the house and thought "There Has To Be A Better Way" Now it looks like there is!! Thanks again! Bob

Bob, the flapper door/ bracket and the vacuum pod/ bracket are separate. Install the flapper door/ bracket into the cowl opening first. Then install the vacuum pod/ bracket in the cowl opening. Onced they are both in the cowl, lift the flapper door up until you can insert the vacuum pod lever pin into the door.
I did this last summer. Not that bad to do. Just take your time, so you don't scratch up new paint.

Lance, thanks for that idea as well. Was your hood on or off when you did this?

No luck doing it this way on mine. There is no way it will go that way. I'll have to just keep trying from the top. Thanks for the suggestion though. :beers:
