JpMotorsports Nov 10th, 09, 6:28 PM Id say its worth $1,000.00 Looks like it needs alot of work
TRANNY SMOKE Nov 10th, 09, 9:15 PM I sold a '55, 331 for $500. it did not run, but was complete. That was two years ago.
BillsCamino Nov 10th, 09, 9:36 PM Gees, I doubt if I've ever even seen one of those around.
And I'm sure I would have remembered...it's freakin' ugly!! :(
He'd have to give me $1500 to take it and even then it would need to be delivered at night. ;)
1badss396 Nov 10th, 09, 10:06 PM Come on Bill you know you would look good driving Mrs Daisy around town even CB10l:)
Chris R Nov 10th, 09, 10:12 PM That would look quite cool as an old fashioned 1950s style kustom. Chop the top with a lead sled look would be a nice start actually. That front grill and bumper is hideous though.
robtco99 Nov 11th, 09, 10:53 AM Chrysler Hemi's are the ones that are worth money. The desoto and dodge hemi's are different and not very desirable at all. I had a 55 desoto motor that I ended scrapping because I couldn't sell it.
The car is worth $1500 if the underneath isnt completely rotted away.
1ATony Nov 11th, 09, 4:00 PM Not a bad looking car,I think it would be pretty cool restored.
1BLACKHARLEY Nov 11th, 09, 4:55 PM on the contrary, again a regional thing. a rat rod guy will buy that, toss the body and drop that in some frame he has sitting around, with some tractor tires and a 5' shifter.
these cars are actually fairly common in socal, i see a wagon on the way home several days a week, and there is a guy in town with several. at the rat rod shows, they are common. usually fairly cheap to p/up, and a way for somebody on a budget to participate, and still afford a family.
i kick myself, last year we were running up the coast, and we stopped in a little podunk town and there was a really clean daily driver for 4.5k. i should have brought it home.
anyway, you have to remember, in the day, most stuff had a six in it, and theses little ( i think 165 h.p.) cars were fairly fast. yes the chryslers bring more $, but i wouldn't say the others are undesirable. go to a rat rod show, and you'll see plenty of desoto hemi's...
70SS Nov 11th, 09, 10:12 PM These first gen hemi's can run very well if built correctly. Below is my current project a 57 392 Imperial Hemi. I planned to stroke this out to well over 420 cubes with a 6-71 blower and a 4 port hilborn w/electronic fuel injection. Pictured with the motor is its new magnesium cragar blower manifold from the early 60's. I'm building a 33 willys, with a dropped front axle, and a one piece tilt front end that will be driven on the street. These are big engines, you can judge by the little small block to the right. The aluminum heads shaved nearly 100 lbs. off of the engine. I'm not sure these are ugly, infact I would say they are one of the most gorgeous engines ever built. The block looks look like something out of a tractor, extremely heavy duty. This block has billet steel splayed four bolt caps done by pro gram engineering.
