I need some help from any transmission gurus. My 400 trans won't kick down into passing gear. It will take off from a standstill and run through the gears fine, but once in 3rd gear, press on the peddle and "NO kickdown". I have checked the solenoid it's kicking in and out. I have a B&M kickdown switch mounted up on the intake and hooked up properly. I just put in a mild B&M shift kit ( I thought this might help the situation). Checked for all the balls in the proper place. Valves all working. The trans pulls great and very crisp shifts but no kickdown unless I pull it down into 2nd manually. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

How does the tranny shift when left in DRIVE? Does it shift at low revs even at wide open throttle? If so, you might need to make a governor adjustment.

Yep it will run through the gears quick even if I'm accelerating. I'll give that a shot.
Thanks. Are there any other things it could be?

After much deliberation I think I'm going to put a new governor in. I think the spring may be weak or broken and it's not a huge amount of $
