Is it normal to be able to pull outwards on your rear wheels, when the car is on jackstands, and have about a 1/4 play? When you pull out it stops when you feel it c clips hit. Thanks, Scott!

1/4 inch? I don't think so. The axle should be held in place between the c-clips and that cross shaft in the diff.

I'm just guessing here, but that seems excessive to me. I'd pop the diff cover off and see how much play you're really getting in there.
