Not a Chevelle question and if it's in the wrong spot feel free to move it.

Trying to get this going for my kid, Here is the scoop. I have a old Bonanza that was a complete basket case and am piecing it together for a rider. I have a GC Honda 5 hp engine. I can not run the honda tank because it hits the clutch system so I put a old Speedway tank on top of the frame and everything is hooked up and I thought ready to go but as soon as I put gas in it it starts running out of the carb at the air cleaner. I looked at the stock tank and it is below the carb so I am thinking that it has some sort of fuel pump and the gravity feed of the tank is not good.
Is there any way I can use a setup like this? I really like the top tank, Maybe some sort of check valve? Help me out, I just want to get the bugs worked out so I can tear it down over the winter and paint everything. My kid really wants this to work. (as do I)

I bet its just a dirty needle and seat in the carb. maybe just pull the carb, clean it and see what happens? I play with honda ATC's alot and its real common when a trikes been sitting. jim
