I'm having some major clearance issues with my replacement 1 1/4" sway bar. It is resting on the bottom of the frame on both sides under the a-arms, the pitman arm is rubbing against it, and the tie rod adjusters are also hitting when you turn the wheel. Those aren't much of an issue because I can turn them so they won't hit, but the rest seems fairly major.

I'm thinking I could grind it down a little where the pitman arm rubs, but what about where its resting on the frame?

EDIT: Well I thought maybe it was on upside down graemlins/clonk.gif which solved the pitman and tie rod problem, but it still hit the frame on the outside edge of the swaybar frame mounts. I got the sway bar used, and I think it is not for a Chevelle. Heres a comparison pic of it and the one I took off:

I'm going to call on Monday to see if I can get my money back.

Looks like a mid 70's F body sway bar-they are a bolt-on interchange, except for some clearence issues. Mine rubs the tie rod end going over bumps-I'll get it fixed here quick, fast and in a hurry.

It would have fit up ok, except it looks like the bends right after the frame mounts need to be at a greater angle. That first bend makes the sway bar parallel to the frame, and when you let the car down the sway bar rests on the frame. Kinda ticks me off because I waited about 3 months for this freakin thing, and then it doesn't fit.

Second generation Camaro/Firebird front sway bars interchange with 1964-1972 Chevelles/El Camino's. I have a 1979 Firebird Formula 1 1/4" front sway bar on my 1972 Chevelle. No interfernce issues at all.
