What is the correct part number and appearance of an ORIGINAL PVC for an LS6? Should there be no shoulder and the hose should go all the way down to the valve cover? Thanks

I believe it should be AC #CV736C GM #6423695,appears to have a lip/shoulder that would rest on the valve cover grommet. Hope this helps.

Interesting, I thought the LS6 used the AC #CV746C GM #6484525.

Now that my curiosity is aroused........I'll look in my GM book when I get home. Info came from local AC-Delco distributors on-line cataloging.

My 70 parts book shows #6423695 for all 8 cylinder engines. I wonder if they used a different # for production and another for replacement??

Whatever number it is, it should be anodized a purple color....

Well........my GM book,1975 and earlier,printed 1983,does also state #6423695-CV736C for just about everything V8 '66-'70 other than Camaro 68-70 w/302 or 350 Spec HP(LT1).

Interesting, I was under the same impression as Dave B. that the purple PCV valve was correct.

Any thoughts on this. http://www.google.ca/search?sourceid=navclient&aq=0h&oq=&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1T4GGLR_enCA255CA256&q=%23cv746c

I'm thinking the 746 was for all Hi-po cars..... not for sure on that.

Don, you are correct. I have looked at three cars and spoken to several other folks and it is the CV736V and not the "purple" CV746C. Thanks for the help.

Hey guys I may be the one that stands corrected. I was right about the part number, but even the CV736V that I saw was a service replacement. In shape it is the same as the "purple" CV746C. The OEM part does not have that intermediate shoulder. The valve sits flush against the grommet on the valve cover and the correct hose with a 90 degree bend goes on the valve and covers it completely, and extending down to contact the valve cover.

Now my tail is really between my legs! I spoke with Jeff Dotterer and he said the correct valve is the CV746V,purple in color. My apologies to those who knew that.

Jon,My understanding is the CV746C was only on the Hi-Po engines. The CV736V was on the LS5 and low horsepower 396 engines.
