: MG's plan
65lkey Nov 7th, 09, 8:49 PM Today I picked up a NOS cheater system that Doc posted. The system is brand new. He used the bottle and brackets in another project so they are lightly used. The 10lb bottle has half a tank left.
My plan for the 427 is to try and find some different heads. Running at pinks I found that I don't want to have to run race gas all the time, even though I race more than drive on the street, i like having the ease of finding pump gas. Therefore i'm gonna fix the 702's sell them and try and find a set of heads with a bigger chamber. I'd like to run the new afr 265's or 290's but I'm leaning towards like a set of closed chamber rectangles. Or even a small open chamber oval or rectangle.
With my 21cc domes a 101cc chamber puts me at 10.75:1. I'd like to be in the 10:1-10.5:1 range.

primernovaben Nov 7th, 09, 8:51 PM better get er together so the nova can stomp all over ya next year . sounds like a good plan, as long as it stays together for the season
kettbo Nov 7th, 09, 9:14 PM I estimated your combo with 11.7:1 with 95 cc heads. zero deck .040 gasket, 4.370 gasket bore 3.76 stroke and .060" overbore
Same combo with 119cc heads would be 9.33
and Rect port closed chamber head 106cc would give you 10.4:1
later CC head like my 101cc #063 head would have you at nearly 11:1 .060 or 10.8:1 .030
Some 110cc Eddies would be your best bet IMHO
cobaltchev67 Nov 7th, 09, 9:44 PM I see you've come to your senses....
Going to put a purge valve on your cheater setup? Would be a good idea...plus it looks cool:yes:.
FRYNTYR Nov 7th, 09, 11:50 PM I know where some nice 291 casting rectangle ports are. Should be between 106-109 CC

Brettd85 Nov 8th, 09, 1:35 AM Paul, I do think its smart to be able to run pump gas. Alot of guys running pretty fast without Al heads... A lil' spray will help
OutCast Nov 8th, 09, 1:41 AM A li'l man spray would be bad though. :(
I just re-read Brett's re-post.
Man, a guy has to be razor sharp to hang out with this crowd.
kettbo Nov 8th, 09, 2:10 AM so Paul sells or trades 702s to get the right chamber size 291s.
hold on, 106cc chambers and my baby dome slugs would give me 10.25:1
Doc......

Georges 2010 gameplan, try to snipe parts from people who need them. In fear that they will pass him at the track.:D
FRYNTYR Nov 8th, 09, 2:53 PM Georges 2010 gameplan, try to snipe parts from people who need them. In fear that they will pass him at the track.:D
He won't snipe these as I didn't get a smoke'n cheap deal on these when I bought them. Being closed chamber 291's they were plenty more than the last set of open 990's I bought. Just want what I paid for them but they are nice and have nice parts.
kettbo Nov 8th, 09, 2:56 PM Brian,
There will always be someone faster. Fact of life.
I just need to be faster than a few people in 2010
cobaltchev67 Nov 8th, 09, 4:18 PM Yup, George isn't trying to outrun the bear, he's just trying to be faster than the other guy who's running from the bear:yes:

are they the ones that were on CL for $700?
FRYNTYR Nov 8th, 09, 10:59 PM are they the ones that were on CL for $700?
No, I've had these for two years and I paid a bit more than that for these. I saw those ones last week that looked rebuilt for like $700-$800 and thought about buying them as they were a great deal but didn't need another set and I wouldn't really know what was in them until I bought them anyways. They were 291 date coded for 70.

Have you figured out how many valves need replaced?
65lkey Nov 9th, 09, 6:54 PM Have you figured out how many valves need replaced?
I have 8 new exhaust valves, I'm thinking i'm going to disassemble them myself and take them somewhere have the seats done and the heads hot tanked and then i'll put em back together.
