A slightly dated but still relevant book that will cover your rear suspension needs from a handling point of view (as well as front suspension) is "How to Make Your Car Handle" by Fred Puhn. It is one of the "HP Books" series often found in the book section of many of the catalogs we all use. If you are looking for drag racing set-ups this book will at least explain the suspension geometry variables.

A quick peak at amazon shows it 30% off at $13.27 plus shipping. Hard to beat.
