I have a 66 Malibu convertible with 235/70/15 tires (27.5" diameter)and small block 327 with iron heads and no AC. It rubs slightly with these tires in a turn but I like the look of a full fenderwell and I had the tires and didn't want to buy new ones. I'm pretty sure that the front springs have sagged but how do i know? How high should it set in the front. I measured the front fender opening height and it is 26.5 inches. At this height, if you sight a line down the rocker panel, it passes below the hub of the front wheel by about 2.5 inches. I used a jack to level it up and I had to raise it about 3" (29.5" at top of fender opening) in the front to get the look I like which has the imaginary straight line of the rocker panel passing through the center of the front whell hub.
Which TRW or Moog spring do i need to raise the car back to this height? Would it be best to switch to a BB AC spring and then cut it down if it is too high?
