Purchased new door locks for my car. My question is what connects the door lock to the internal mech. which operates the door knob lock rod? Is it a small rod or some type of bracket. The kit did come with a small keeper on the back of the tumbler!

There is a small arm to connect the cylinder to the rod. No gots on your car??

Are you sure about that? On my '65 the exterior lock cylinder connects to the door latch mechanism only. The push button on the top sill of the door connects via a rod to the latch mechanism but not to the lock cylinder itself.

The small "keeper" as you call it attaches to the back of the lock cylinder. This keeper arm locates around a small arm which protrudes from the latch mechanism. The lock cylinder arm then lifts or lowers the arm on the latch enabling or disabling the latch. The lock knob on the top interior side of the door attaches to the latch mechanism via a metal rod.

I have some latches out of the doors I can photograph and point out the bits and pieces if you still need help.

Rich.....I did the cylinders not too long ago....And you are right, the rod goes to the latch mechanism, that's what I had in mind, just the one rod.....

Here's how things connect to the latch inside the door.

The side showing is the side you would see with the latch attached to the inside of the door.
