Hey, me and my pops just re-did MOST of the breaks on the chevelle. We re-did the rear drums, and the front discs, didnt replace any lines or anything, but anywho, we tried to push the emergency break down to c if it worked after the repair, well it went all the way to the floor with the greatest of easy, no resistance whatsoever. So thats question #1, do u know whats wrong with my emergency breaks?
Ok, and as for the rear drums, we just did all the mechanical stuff to repair em, and i pushed the break pedal down and the breaks didnt move an inch, any suggestions?
thx guys

Any number of things can be wrong with the emergency brake. The drum was on, right? Did you tighten the cable? Is the part that actually seperates the brake shoes connected correctly?
Brakes don't move very far. Did you put the drum on, have someone spin the wheel while another hits the brake and check for resistance? Did you adjust the star wheel so the shoes are close to the drum (should be a tiny bit of resistance putting the drum on)?

they mechanism itself isnt moving, so theres no resistance either, the brake shoes themselves arent moving mechanically.

everything in the drum itself is also set up correctly and the drum is right close to the shoes, the break pedal just dangles like a loose tooth.

If the brakes worked before, then SOMETHING wasn't reassembled properly or they would function. Pull the rear drums and check that you have the emergency brake strut positioned properly between the two shoes. The edge of each shoe fits into the slots on each end of the strut. Check that the wheel cylinder push rods are positioned properly...edge of shoe fits into the little notch. Springs in their proper places? Self adjuster assembled correctly on the secondary (longer) shoe? Primary (shorter shoe) faces front of car. Maybe someone here can post a picture of an assembled unit so you can compare.

How are all the cables? Are they there at all or seized/stretched? If the cable is there, get under the car and pull on it by hand. At least you'll be able to tell if it's in the front or rear cable.

It sounds like you do not have all the brakes connected. If you have the fronts removed, that would let air into the system. Make sure all brakes are connected, and see what happens.
