Just trying to verify when this block (3970010) was cast.
Would it be February 9, 1977 by any chance?

I would say it is December 6, 1968. 1969 model year.

Date looks like B 9 7 for Feb 9, 1977 (photo looks upside down), not L 6 8. :D

That's what I thought but wasn't sure. The seller says it's out of a 79 Z28 but not sure if it's the original motor. L 6 8 (December 6, 1978 ?) might make it the original, right? I asked for the characters on the engine pad but didn't get a reply.

Can't be 68 because the block paint is blue, would be orange. They started to paint all engines corporate blue in the mid to late 70's

Need what is stamped on the front pad for sure. But I would say it looks like B 9 7 to me.

And there is no 010 block in 1968. 010's begin in 69.

I did flip the photo over and thought B 9 7 looked better
