Hello all,
I've installed a AAW highway 22 kit in my car and it came with a new headlight switch. I see where the white ground wire feeds up to the headlight switch, but how does it get grounded? My dome lights work with the door switches but not from the headlight switch. I think the stock one had a ground ring but can't figure out how this one grounds.
Any ideas
Thanks

As long as both door switches are properly grounded the headllight switch should work. Mine didnt work at first but after I got the whole circuit wired it came on.
Also make sure the headlight switch is grounded also. I belive there is a ring spring that begins behind the swith and grounds to the upper dash bezel scew.
At least on the 69 .

The headlight switch rheostat itself has to be grounded.
Jam switches are in parallel.

If it is on your 71 the headlight switch has a ground ring (see attached photo.) Make sure the ring (green circle) is in place and that the metal strap is grounded to the dash mounting frame (green arrow). Yellow arrows are the wiper switch ground. Red circle is cig lighter ground but is 70 only.
Second photo shows where the metal strap grounds to the metal dash frame.
If it's your 66 the switch is mounted through metal, the switch grounds to the dash metal. Make sure the switch is tight also there should be a star washer on the switch.
The rheostat doesn’t actually ground, there's a separate switch that grounds dome/courtesy light circuit(s).

On the rheostat portion of the switch is a cam that closes a set of contacts from the body of the switch to the terminal with the white wire.
Elree is correct as usual.
Don't know why I said "rheostat"
brain fart ? :o
