View Full Version : Georgia guys (Help!)
Zach's Chevelle Nov 4th, 09, 7:25 PM Hey everyone, I'm looking for a local shop or gearhead who does work on the side with auto wiring experience. I'm in the middle of a Malibu to SS dash swap and found myself in over my head. I'm staying really busy with school and just don't have the time to fool around with this right now. I can trailer the car if necessary. Any help would be appreciated.
Zach
BillsCamino Nov 4th, 09, 7:44 PM Zach,
Get in touch with Dan Dolin..."DanD" here on TC. He's up in Gainesville. If he can't help you personally, he'll know of someone who can.
Wiring is not my strong point. :(
silverhog01 Nov 4th, 09, 9:20 PM In gainesville too eric with queen city speed is a wiring junkie 678-936-3664. He has done a lot of covans classics and street rods. always been a great help to me. just give him a call he should be able to help or led you somewhere.
Zach's Chevelle Nov 4th, 09, 11:25 PM Thanks guys, I try them!
Georgia69 Nov 5th, 09, 9:44 AM You can order new dash harnesses from M&H electric that are beautiful, and completely plug and play. Pricey, but perhaps no more expensive than paying a shop to modify what you have. I used M&H, I have no electric experience, and it worked out beautifully. Just another option.
Jeffry72 Nov 5th, 09, 11:56 AM M&H is my suggestion too! Been where you're at and done that. By the time you haul your car anywhere, pay anyone, and spend anytime, you would have paid for the M&H and have it done. Tell them the year, what you're trying to do, and what accesories, and you will have a brand new plug play harness like Mike said.
BillsCamino Nov 5th, 09, 12:01 PM Yeah, ditto on what the others have mentioned about M&H. I've used their products a few times with great success. Just "plug and play"...simple but pricey.
I only mentioned Dan because it sounded like you were almost there and just needed some finishing touches.
Skeeveman Nov 5th, 09, 12:02 PM Zach, if I were still in GA I'd be glad to help... but that's no longer the case. Wiring and electronics are however my expertise. If you want, I can help you remotely however I can. Feel free to IM me on AIM and we can exchange diagrams, photos and knowledge on this.
Zach's Chevelle Nov 6th, 09, 12:04 AM When I bought the conversion kit from John's Classic Cars in Douglasville it came with wiring harnesses (including the fusebox.) It's the correct harness for the U14 gauge package. I have everything needed, it's just a matter of knowing what I need to keep from my old harness and how to install everything. I'll be stopping by Summit tomorrow to get some vent ducting for the heater.
Jake, I'll be messeging you soon.
hpsherlin Nov 6th, 09, 8:34 AM Zach, get you a wiring diagram for your car or get the assembly manual. It has the wiring diagrams in it.
Since you have a new harness, you should be able to go by the diagram and hook it up.
A little modification could be traced on what/where on the diagram also.

DanD Nov 10th, 09, 3:05 PM Zach,
I have a 1970 in the shop now that I'll be pulling the dash out of Saturday if you want to come watch and see what's involved, or if you want me to finish yours we can talk about that.
Dan
