How accurate are the repop factory tach and gauges set ups? Anyone here use the aftermarket stuff? I`m mainly curious about the 64-65 set ups but I`d like you hear anyones opinions. I got a couple things in the works and if either one pans out I`d like to use factory style gauges for a clean "sleeper" look.

I am not sure how accurate the factory gauges are and I suspect cheaper aftermarket instruments are worse. I use factory gauges because I prefer the stock appearance and they give me a hint of what is happening.

I can't speak to how accurate the reproduction tachometers are but I've heard they aren't very reliable (they often fail after a short time in use). The repair shops I've spoken with will ONLY repair a factory tach and they won't touch a reproduction.
The reproduction 64/65 tachs look nice but they are only available in the low redline version as far as I know.

The low redline isn`t that important to me but I do want one that will work and read somewhat correctly. I`m not going to spend the money on a factory tach and have it refurbished so it looks like my options are going to have to change. Thanks guys.

My friend has a '66 knee-knocker repro, and its still working well after over 3 years... Seems to be pretty accurate (below 2000 RPMs its accurate compared to a Sears tune up set i use.)...
