I recently bought a 69 Chevelle. I knew when buying it that none of the dash instruments worked and there were no lights as well. For some reason when the previous owner installed the dash cluster nothing was hooked up. Some things are self explanatory but there are different colored wires for the bulb housings. Are they color coded to be put in a certain spot? I also need to know where the little wire and clip attach for the gear indicator. It's a column shift car. Any help would be much appreciated.

This should help on turn indicator bulb/color, bright headlamp bulb/color, etc. I seem to remember that the gauges themselves have discreet plugs........ and wiring colors match sender wiring.

Here is a link that might help you out also. Just so you know it is much easier to install all the lights and harness to your dash cluster before you put the dash back in the car.

It is definitely easier to connect everything on the dash cluster before you install cluster in dash. It is a pain in the neck, the back and a few other places to connect everything with the cluster in the dash.
