I just rebuilt my 427 with alot of re-organizing of the wiring under the hood. Just making things look more presentable is all. So I go to start the engine for the first time and bang It lights off with no problems-but when I go to turn the key off, nothing, the engine keeps going. After about 3 seconds I pull the two wire connector off the alternator and the engine stops. What did I hook up wrong to cause this?

HEI- The only wires involved with the distributor are a three piece set which is the pig tail from the distributor to the cap that only goes on one way and a batt red wire and tach.

Did it work properly before you tidied up the wiring? It is also possible that you have a bad voltage regulator that is giving a feedback into the ignition.
