I'm trying to figure out this clanking noise i get when going around right hand corners.

On my car, the Tie rod coupler on the drivers side has the bolts facing down, on the passenger side, they are facing up- and it looks like one of them is rubbing on my transmission cooler hard line.

Are they supposed to be down or up, or does it matter?

It shouldn't matter, just as long as they don't hit anything. Move it around to it doesn't hit. When I put my monster sway bar on I had to swing them out of the way so they wouldn't hit.

Has the front end been alinged recently by a good alingment guy? If not it may be a good idea to have an alingment done. A good alingment guy will clock the sleeves so the bolts do not hit sway bars, trans lines etc....

I was taught that if you have a choice, point bolts down just in case the nuts fall off atleast the bolt will still do something. ;)
