I just paid $67 for a new 1" rear sway bar from Original Parts group. They have a sale going on until the end of next month.
That's the cheapest I've ever found a rear bar for new or used so I snatched one up.

A good deal, but even cheaper if you order it from www.gmpartsdirect.com. (http://www.gmpartsdirect.com) #394926 is $60.28 plus s/h from them...

Thats cool. Probably about the same since I don't pay shipping since I live nearby.
Have to say that gmpartsdirect web site is one of the worst web sites I have seen. Cheasey and not so easy to figure out. The "alternate catalog" doesn't go back before 1973. And their "restoration" section doesn't list much. Under the suspension category its listing rally wheel trim rings. I really don't have the patience for a site like that.

Yep, their site is pretty bad, but if you e-mail them they are usually pretty helpful to point you in the right direction.

Anything you find on GMDirect can be ordered thru your local dealer. Just take the part number from the site and they will be able to locate and bring it in for you. It will cost a little more, but compare the "shipped" price thru GMDirect to the actual cost at the dealer without shipping. I compared an order that totaled $97.00 thru GMDirect at $114.00 at my local dealer. That's including the sales tax. Only $17.00 to support your local business.
Many of the "rare" and NOS parts on eBay are still readily available from GM.

Both prices sound very good!
Rainer, how the hell did you find that part# ? I've been through that website and find a long list of parts for the '65s but can't find the sway bar...
Thanks

The OPG sway bar that's on sale is for a 1 inch bar. The stock swaybar from GMPartsdirect is 7/8". The OPG site says that the swaybar also includes a boxed control conversion kit. Sounds like a good deal.
