: adjustable rod from MC to pedal

Hello all, I just bolted up a new manual master cylinder for my 65 'velle. I have discs up front and from reading countless threads on this site I went with a MC from a 77 Malibu/6 cylinder/manual discs car. Just like everyone said, the MC did indeed come with a pushrod in the box. However, the rod is much, much too short for some reason. I only have pedal travel in the last 2" of throw. Even after I bled everything the pedal is still right down at the floor. Pulling up on the pedal just pulls the rod right out of the back of the master cylinder.

The rod that came with the MC was also a little different. The end that connected to the pedal was just a flat circle with a (huge) hole through it. I had to use 2 washers (big->bigger), so the bolt head wouldn't slide right through! Other ones I've seen fork out at the end to sandwich the pedal on each side, and have much smaller holes.

Anyways, to my question: Where can I pick up an adjustable pushrod for this application?

Does anyone know why the pushrod that came with the MC would be so short? BTW I am using the upper hole on the pedal.

thanks
Joe

Maybe I'm not following you correctly, but have you tried using the original pushrod?I used the same MC in my conversion and just left the original pushrod in place, in the same position as with the previousdrum/drum setup .Only adjustment necessary was to remove the little rubber return stop to allow the brakes to let off pressure (locked them up before I tried that!).Have had great brakes since then.

Thanks for the reply. What ended up happening is that originally the car came with manual drums all the way around. I converted it to power disc, but now I've switched it to manual disc due to lack of vacuum from the motor. If I have the original rod I'm not quite sure where it went.

Try MP Brakes, Adjustable Push Rod (http://www.mpbrakes.com/manual.htm) it'll cost you around $20 Just page down until you get to the adjustable rod. You are right in using the upper hole for the manual brake set up.
