: Good deal on disc brakes?

I have been torn between buying a disc brake kit and putting one together from old parts I have collected, and today I happened to find this (http://www.mpbrakes.com/db1741pe.htm) . It sounds like a great deal to me, as I don't care if the booster is correct or not. Selling my old parts and buying this would probably be the cheapest and easiest way to get disc brakes.

Now, the problem is that I have 14" wheels (plain old steel rims with hubcaps), but according to the web page, you need 15" wheels. Are all disc brakes like this, or is it possible to find stock type brakes where I can use my 14" wheels? If there is such a kit, it would be actually be cheaper to buy that and use my old wheels and hubcaps.

I made a search for it on this site, but the only thread I found was a bit confusing, I think it said that 14" rally wheels would work, but not std 14" wheels.

That looks like it's basically a stock brake set-up. So, if your wheels are the newer types then they would fit. 14" wheels will clear 11" brakes if they were made to do this. You'd have to find someone more knowledgeable about which wheels to know how to ID them. Basically, I believe the rally's from probably about 67 or later would work. Also, some steel wheels must also work because I'm sure you could get a disk brake car with steel wheels.

You didn't say what car but if you have a pre-67 with the stock wheels then they will not work.
