Im installing my new SS dash into my 1970 Chevelle and I am wondering how the odometer goes. And how do you line thoes tabs up on the odometer reels, do they go above and below the white bar that is kinda infront of it? And how do you get the dang numbers to where you want them?

From memory here.....the tabs have a notch in them that engages with the bar so they can't rotate up or down. You take the cluster out and rotate it to the milage you want then install with the tabs engaging the bar.

Yes, I worked at a used car lot in the 70's. Remove clip and take odometer out of cluster. Remove the plastic retainer off the tabs and rotate to the milage the car should have. reinstall plastic retainer and odometer back in cluster. gary

Me too, only we owned it. Dad bought it in 1970 when I was 12. Used to peddle down there on the Stingray and screw up cars trying to work on them!! Got pretty exciting around the gas crunch as all the muscle cars got traded in. I got to beat on every brand and style of muscle car before I even got my drivers license! I picked GM as the brand to own way back then.
