nice job. is that your first time making a 3d pumpkin? the tutorial in the other post was pretty wild stuff. yours looks pretty good!

Yup, first time! I read thru Scott Cummings tutorial (Pumpkin Gutter) and did my best to follow the technique. Being that I like to take on challenging things, I really wanted to do something more complicated and detailed, but Scott recommended to start with something simple and work your way up, so I did. It took my 4 1/2 hours from start to finish.....started at 3am and finished at 7:30am haha :D

Maybe next year I'll do two pumpkins and move up in difficulty.

Oh yeah, and I'm buying better tools for next year! The ribbon tools I bought for this pumpkin worked ok, but one of the wood ones I had started falling apart :(

i didn't read the tutorial, but i had a freind that was great at this, he said a quick trick was a dremmel would cut the time in half. he said a lot of the little bits could get you where your going a lot faster than some of the hand tools, but you guys might already know this. good job by the way....

That woulda been a great tool to have had! Just don't know how much noise it'd emit, being that I made that pumpkin between the hours of 3am-7:30am! haha :D

Not too bad if I do say so myself! :) Last year the pumpkin we entered (The "Joker") was in the "Most Scariest" catagory and didn't place :mad:


Last year's "competition" was total weak sauce!! The "competition" is a pumpkin CARVING contest, yet there were pumpkins (which won btw) that were just painted and had things glued to them :sad: This year was a shocker to me! I was really suprised to see soo many GOOD pumpkins in the contest this year! Although the ultimate goal is to get 1st place, obviously, losing to a pumpkin burger (which was pretty damn creative if you ask me! :yes: ) was bitter sweet! :beers: Even tho I spent the whole night creating this pumpkin, it was WELL WORTH IT! :yes:
