Hi guys,
I just bought a new house and need to get insurance for it. I got an insane quote from AAA and a really cheap quote from my realtor from a no-name insurance company. Anybody have a recommendation for a good quality insurance company that is not insanely expensive like AAA.

Thanks,
Mike

Ask around the neighborhood who has what and try to get a local insurance company.

I like Liberty Mutual. I only know one person who wasn't able to get a better deal than they currently have.

I am an independent catastrophe adjuster by trade. I do work for State Farm all over the country, and my wife has worked for them more than 10 years. I can tell you from the inside that they are very serious about taking care of their customers and paying what they owe. I have seen more instances than I can count where the company paid for something not covered (not storm damage due to rot or whatever) to keep the customer happy. I know they are not the cheapest company, but not the most expensive either.

I have also met adjusters in the field who work for other companies and have heard their complaints about slow paying, not paying etc.

I can write for any company in the states where I am licensed (20 of them) and I choose to write only for State Farm.

PM if you have any questions.

State Farm redlined us. They are lucky they still have our auto insurance.

I have Nationwide. Avoid Farmer's at all costs.

Thanks for the responses guys. :)
I will look into Statefarm, Liberty Mutual and Nationwide tomorrow. I'm not looking for the cheapest insurance, just good quality insurance at a fair price.

AAA had the best rates for my home.
We have home owners, 3 autos and life insurance through them.
We get great discounts by having multiple policies.
Ive had them for auto ins. since I was 17 yrs old (now 41) and they have always been great to work with.

State Farm. If you were in rural America you might try Farm Burea. Try to find a State Farm Agent that has been there 20+ years . They can do things directly out of their office newer agents cannot. Their commission is schedule is different. My agent gives each house he insures SS washing machine lines, surge protectors, and pans to go under the hot water heater.

Whatever you do dont make any claims unless your house is completely destroyed,,you will be dropped like a hot rag!
Then finding a new insurance company is difficult to find,,except ones that will charge you an arm and a leg! The good news is ,after a couple years of being high risk you will be accepted back ,,only after you pay your dues!
Home insurance is only to guarantee no loss to your Mortgage company.

Surprised AAA rates were too high. We switched from AllState to AAA about 4 years ago. Our car and home insurance dropped about 50%. We're still not paying today what we paid with AllState. We checked State Farm back when we had AllState, maybe 6 or 7 years ago, agent said he couldn't do any better than AllState.

You never see AAA rates listed in the commercials when they try to show how much cheaper, I thinks it's Progressive, is. They show AllState, State Farm and others and Progressive but not AAA.

Mike: See if American Family covers your area. My entire family and almost all my friend use them and nobody has ever had a complaint about their service.

FWIW, I pay ~$100 per $100k of coverage
