If they call the so called world series the same way the did the playoffs we will see how you really feel. We have a few teams that work their butts off to go to the end and then to have all their hard work thwarted by either some amatuer little league quality umping or otherwise coerced
calling is unacceptable. I don't care which team is playing.

It is frustrating because in my heart, the Phillies are the better team. Their bats just didn't show up when they needed them the most. God knows the Yankees have not impressed me at all, but give 'em credit, they have 27 titles clinched.

But I do have to say, that after looking back at what the Phillies have done over the last 2 seasons makes me proud. The Eagles, Flyers and Sixers have not won anything and it's not looking good for them anytime soon. So my hats off to the Phillies for finally bringing a parade and a winner to Philly!

I've never seen a team that was as hated as the Yankees. It's not for a lack in talent, but because they have zero class and are cry babies.

The Yankees ooze class, every player deep down wishes he couls play for an owner with such desire to win every year.

Phillies were like 12-0 at home during the postseason,if you told the Yankees they'd take 2 of 3,I bet they sign up for that in a nanosecond.

Another Einstein:sad:...do you even follow baseball?

There isn't a more "team" in baseball than the Yankees, you don't win a major-league leading 103 games in the toughest division in baseball with out playing as a team.
If you think the Phillies play with more heart and desire than the Yankees, then you're sadly mistaken.Check out how many come from behind wins they have...is that any indication to you of team play?

All signs point to them resigning Damon over Matsui,Johnny still has great skills and has a sharp baseball mind as evidenced by him swiping 3rd base effectively ending the game by taking Lidge's power curve away from him.

Pretty smart move by a team player I'd say...

It's actually kind of funny though, unless they are transplants from NY, not one of these Yankers supporters are located in NY.

Nope, I don't live in NY...but was sitting in the old Yankee Stadium watching my first game in 1972, guess I'm just a bandwagoner.;)

I gotta free ride on the train last night to college beccause I had a REd Sox sweat shirt on!!! The conductor said, "Good Word, Phillies for the series right?"

I said, "Anyone but the Yankees"

He said "That's right"
:D

The train fare was almost $15 one way! :D:thumbsup:

You should be HOPING that from Andy, not expecting it taking his short rest record....4-6 with a 4.15 ERA in 14 starts with 3 days of rest.

Sound like the Phils have a chance. Pedro needs to dig down deep and pitch one for the ages. Tonight Howard will set the strike out record then come back and go deep!

Another "loser" from Kalifornia with sour grapes. :D

No sour grapes here:noway:. I like the Angels but, honestly, after seeing how they played in the play-offs, I didn't want them to make it, it would have been a blow-out:sad:

I just get so sick of here about all these "superstars" yet when you here of an error that lost the game, you can usually ask "Jeter or Rodriguez?" and 99% you'd be right. Or when the players are paid REDICULOUS sums of money and have no team loyalty. Yea, I'm sure Damon will stay, he said he was happy to be with the yankees and dedicated....hmmmm, seems kind of like an echo from 4 years ago with the red sox:yes:

And the team comment comes from the lack of support. The whole fight to be the bigger superstar, and the constant arguments about who is payed more that ALWAYS surrounds the Yankees.

That and the arrogance that the Yankees emit. Everyone gets bad calls, EVERYONE. And sure it's frustrating. Most players will glance at the umpire and say something then move on. Thats not the case with the Yankees. Posada will sit up there and mouth off for the rest of his time at bat. Rodriguez will pull the umpire away and demand to talk. Then get on base and bitch with that umpire, then get to second and complain to that umpire. Jeter will throw a little hissy fit all the way back to the dugout then continue to throw things around. It's just sad. For people that are getting multi-million dollar contracts, you'd think there would be a "respectable/responsible" player clause somewhere in there:sad:

Thanks! And MUCH credit also has to be given to the Phillies, the Angels and the Twins, including their fans. They all were NOT slouches, played hard and were tough to the very last out.

And now back to football

I, myself, personally always want the NY/NJ (or whatever they are called) Giants to lose, not because I dislike them, but for the mere reason my "estranged" B-i-L is a fan of them, and thus, when they lose, he becomes distraught which makes me happy. :D

It should be noted that I am not a fan of football with the exception of the Army-Navy game.
Go NAVY! ..... Beat ARMY! :beers:

Ever since Eli Manning joined that team. I have felt the same thing, and they were one of my favorites when I was a kid too. Back in the old Phill Simms days.

As tough of a series as it was, let's not forget that last year,The Phils faced the upstart Rays who had never even won a division title let alone a trip to the WS...and as most newbie teams do w/o much playoff experience, they failed badly.
This year, the Yanks had to not only get past their nemesis the Angels but who do they face in the series...yep,the scrappy never-say-die defending WS Champion Phillies no less so let's give credit where credit's due...it's not easy to win a title in this game, let alone multipule ones, just ask Philly.

I know a lot of "former" hardcore Base Ball fans that have stopped watching anything beyond their home teams final game of the season. These guys would watch all they way through.
They say it is like all other sports now. Everything is about the money with little to no team loyalty from the players anymore.
Almost without exception the teams that make the series are the ones that can "buy" the best players away from the smaller teams that can't afford the outlandish amounts paid by the rich teams!

Have a good on yourself!:)
