It is quite complete. It starts by having you isolate whether your problem is in the steering column or if it is in the vehicle wiring. http://jimshea.corvettefaq.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/01/KeyBuzzerDiagnosis.doc If you determine that it is a steering column problem, you will need to pull the steering wheel, locking plate, and then pull the turn signal switch far enough out of the column so that you can get at the key buzzer switch that is located behind the turn signal switch. (These procedures can be accomplished without pulling or dropping the steering column.) You didn't mention if you had a tilt column or a standard non-adjustable column. There are some differences in taking the different steering columns apart. Here are the addresses of two papers that take you through the disassembly of the upper end of a Chevelle steering column. Standard (non-adjustable) Column http://jimshea.corvettefaq.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/stdcolumndr_104de07.doc http://jimshea.corvettefaq.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/01/StdColumnACarDisassemblyPage1.doc Tilt Steering Column http://jimshea.corvettefaq.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/08/tiltcolumndr123ja06.doc http://jimshea.corvettefaq.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/01/TiltColumnLineDrwg1.doc Good luck, Just remember that additional information and help is just a computer click away. Jim Dean Oct 29th, 09, 8:44 AM Jumper the pink/black wire on the horn relay to ground and see if the relay buzzes. The switch is not in the turn signal switch, it is a separate switch under it. The drivers door must be open with key in ignition in able to ground the circuit and energize the key minder buzzer part of the horn relay. |
