: c4 vs rim size
ponjohn May 11th, 03, 7:48 PM I searched the archives...couldn't believe i was unable to find this info.
Anyhow...what is the smallest rim that can be used with a c4/ b-body conversion?...thanks....john
72SSAbody May 11th, 03, 7:52 PM John,
Are we talking C4 12" discs or 13" discs here?
I do believe a lot of guys over on www.camaros.net (http://www.camaros.net) are running 15" with the 12" C4 discs & PBR's.
With the 13" C4 discs and PBR's some 16's will fit, but you have to measure/grind carefully.

Ohhhhh, did not realise there was two diff dia rotors. I thought the c4 were 12" and the c5 is what stepped up to 13".
So I meant 12". I will probably run 16" or 17" rims BUT want the option of 15" with slicks.
Thanks,
john

john Yep, there is two different rotor sizes. And to confuse you even more the C5 13" rotor is thicker than the C4 13" rotor.
You'll have no problem running 15" slicks on the back with the rear 12" discs (mainly 'cause the rear caliper is more compact in its single piston design than the dual piston front calipers).
So when are you going to post some pics of the Judge?? I'm wanting a sneak peek!

ponjohn May 12th, 03, 8:27 PM Joe,
Thanks for the info. Any problem running 13" front and 12" rear?
I have been swamped. I should have the frame stripped back from the powder coaters by the end of June. I hope the suspension will be done and reassembled by years end. Money will be the limiting factor in how quickly I can get it together. The bar keeps getting raised every time I make a decision on what's next.
I found a company about 90 miles away that will blast and powder coat with the proper semi-gloss appearance for 550.00. I had one quote at 750.00 just for the PC another 150 for blasting...............john
ponjohn May 13th, 03, 9:25 AM Joe,
Does the 13" c4 option require a different caliper than the 12"?..............john

Glad to hear you went somewhere else. I love my blasting cabinet and powdercoater :D
The C4 12" and 13" calipers seem to be the same. Though the brackets (GM calls them "abutments") may be different. I have only experience with the C5 PBR's and the Ford Cobra PBR's (same calipers as the C4).
David Pozzi and others that have performed the 12" and 13" swap may be able to answer you questions over at www.camaros.net (http://www.camaros.net).
I definately know the feeling of getting swamped, but build it right the first time and you'll have more time to enjoy it when you done (that is, if its ever "done").
