I am in the process of converting from a single to a dual master cylinder. I would like a new unit and not a rebuilt. Does anyone know if there is such an animal available out there?? I checked some of our usual venders with no luck. Thanks in advance.

WEll I realize this is not an interesting 502 question but surely someone has went through the experience of trying to purchase a NEW master cylinder for a 66/67 out there in Chevelle Land.
I went to our local Chevy Dealer here and they could not help. May be a lost cause.

There actually weren't dual masters for 66/67. You need to buy one for a 68 up - for your application - if it is drum/ and whether power or manual brakes/drum. If yours is still drum/drum, buy the 68 equivalent, just mount it and split the lines front to front and back to back. You don't need a proportioning valve on drum/drum. Check your pushrod length on your old one to match it to the new one, ie. shallow or deep hole in the back of the master. Try different years or Olds, Pontiac, etc to find the right push rod hole depth. They all mount the same. OLDED

My 67 has a dual master cylinder. I think 67 was the first year

Yes I do believe the good ole Govt. stepped in for safety reasons and the 67's had many standard features my 66 does not have. Dual M/C being one of them, 4 way flashers I believe on and on. My 66 is just about equal to a 57 Chevy when it comes to safety issues but I am not complaining at all, its mine and has been for 38 + and counting.
