I just picked up an original center console with horse shoe shifter out of a 72 SS AND an original steering wheel for $300 even for my malibu clone :D . This post isnt to brag on this great find but just to ask if anyone can recommend a paint to use on the center console its black which is the color of my interior it is a little rough mainly just faded from being 40 years old, someone has painted it before but did a crappy job.

For the silver accents pick up one of those paint pens they sell in craft supply stores.
Buy the Argent Silver color and take your time and it will come out awesome.

Is there an off center console for Chevelles?

Well on my car (67 Chevelle) 4 speed. The console sits in the center but where the shifter comes out, is out the side... Not sure about the automatics though

If it has been painted before you may want to remove the old paint as additional paint will start to remove the texture of the console. I recall where others sprayed their console down with easy off oven cleaner and then enclosed it in a big plastic bag overnight. Old paint was reported to be easy to remove afterwards. Nuetralize the easy off with a good washing and then repaint with a couple light coats.
