I am doing an HEI conversion on a '67 Chevelle and am having trouble finding the new connectors for the bulkhead side of the power wire. I got the old one out with the resistor wire attached but would rather replace it with a new piece then reuse the old one. Does anyone know what the part number is and where to get them. I have been to about 8 places (including 3 GM dealers) with the connector in hand and everybody says they have never seen one. One restoration shop guy says it looks like the connectors used on the steering column harness but didn't know where to get it. Any ideas?
Also, I'm planning to run a relay for the distrbutor with the old coil wire (upgraded to non resistor) as the trigger wire. Good Idea? bad idea?

BTW, they are called GM packard 56 series.

skip the relay/solenoid deal unless you need the connection for other stuff. That wire bochnak linked to is what you need.

Thanks! Appreciate the info. Just thought that the relay might eliminate any potential problems of pulling excess current through 42 year old wires/fuse block (less the new 12v wire for the Dist).

Those connectors are for '68 up cars, the '67 and earlier used a different terminal. Somewhere on this site there is a thread that has a supplier for those terminals. I'd search for you, but it's dinner time.;)

I found twin lock terminals for the pre '68 fuse blocks from PCS Performance (www.pcsconnectors.com). Delphi part number 2973915 (18-20 gauge) and 6288953 (12 gauge). They aren't cheap at $.55 and $.52 respectively but they look like what we need for the early conversion.

I believe you will also need the crimper, or modify one to work. Most crimper dies are too wide.
See if you can find a pre-made wire.
