Since GM extended 1969 model year production thru Dec. 15th (on some models, ie Corvette & Camaro), does anyone know about when the last 1969 Chevelle was made?

The Baltimore built Chevelle we bought new was built in the last week of July. 9B4126XX. It was probably right near the end of production because there was a sheet metal change for 1970 that would take the bodyshop a few weeks to change for. Generally, new cars were at the dealers some time in October for the big openings that they used to have.

Certainly the 1969 Camaro had a long production and had a good number of running changes.

The Chevelles didn't have an extended run like the Camaros & Corvettes. One change that did happen late in the '69 Chevelle run was the enlarging of the 396 to 402 c.i.d. Those engines had a 3-letter engine code rather than a 2-letter code. The 3-letter code was something that was phased in for 1970 on everything else. Late in the '69 run they just sold the 402 as a 396 and didn't say anything about it.

Thanks Cam.
Were any Chevelles made after Sept 1st? If so, could that have been when the blocks had the 3 letter code, and also the blue certification label affixed to the driver door jam below the lock

Chevrolet would have been building the 1970 model in September. The three letter engine code showed up either late July or early August.

My Atlanta built 69 was built the second week in August.

Who knows how some of this stuff works out. As noted above, we have a 69 built the 2nd week of August, 1969. The earliest production car I have on record is the 2nd week of July, 1968 from Baltimore with a VIN of 300014.
