: drum to disc mc pushrod length ?.

So I converted to disc in the front, got all the lines and prop valve off of a monte. Went today and got a disc brake master cylinder, and it seems that the pushrod from the old set-up is too long. Is there a difference in the length between disc and drum? Could it be that I need to use the other hole on the pedal rod? I know that someone has gone through this. Thanks, Dave.

Upon further inspection, I found that it is adjustable, and cranked to the longest position. I got it removed and took my torch to it , to get it freed up. So ,for a disc brake master cylinder, does it go in the upper or lower hole? My assembly manual does'nt cover that to well. Also should I start it in the "short" position, and extend it till it just contacts the master cylinder?

Power brake booster rod goes in the lower hole on the pedal. Make sure you get the metal tab that works the brake light switch, as the pedal will be very far down with power brakes.

71, which way do you have your bleeders facing ? They should face up, I know that's not the answer to your question . there are different deths to master cylinders. be careful of which one you use.

It looks like that the left and right calipers are swapped. Maybe that's why you needed extra long brake hoses. Also the nuts on your ball joints should be on the bottom side. At least that's the way I install them. Looks good other then that.

Yup, I think you're right. By looking in the assembly manuel, I thought I had them right. But I keep looking at them, thinking the hose's would route better if I swapped them. I'll fix them in the morning and try the stock hose's for length. I was told when you swap to the nove spindle's, you needed more length in the hose.Thank's Dave.

So I got the spindle's in the right way :D With the stock length hoses. I put the brake rod to the shortest setting, and put it in the lower hole. When I put the MC on, it depressed slightly when I tightened the bolt's. The pedal now has about three inches of travel, the MC returns the pedal to the stop. And when depressed it travel's about three inches, and stops several inches off the floor. This sound about right? Dave.
